Alan Yip grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and completed his Bachelors degree at the University of British Columbia. Alan obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2017. While at the University of Victoria, Alan was an articled student at The Law Centre. The Law Centre afforded him the opportunity work on a wide range of legal matters including criminal, family, civil, human rights, and workplace cases.
Following law school, Alan joined a full service law firm in Burnaby where he further honed his skills as a both a litigator and a solicitor. In his capacity as a litigator, Alan advocated on behalf of employees, employers, and private lenders at the Supreme Court, Provincial Court, and the Employment Standards Tribunal. In his role as a solicitor, Alan drafted various employment related agreements, including non-disclosure, non-competition, employment, and service agreements.
Alan also brings nearly a decade of experience as an insurance broker, which has afforded him a unique perspective as the intermediary between individual insureds and national insurance corporations.
Prior to joining Taylor Janis LLP, Alan served in an in-house capacity at Simon Fraser University where he was able to employ his negotiation and conflict resolution abilities on behalf of the University.
In his free time, Alan is an avid sports fan and is a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
