About David Madani
David has represented clients in BC Provincial Court, BC Supreme Court, the BC Court of Appeal, Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Worker’s Compensation Appeal Tribunal, the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia Tribunal, and the Residential Tenancy Branch. He has experience in employment law, civil and commercial litigation, as well as regulation and professional discipline cases.
David has served as a board member with the Canadian Bar Association of BC “BarTalk” magazine editorial committee and has been a contributing editor for the Law Society of British Columbia’s Learning Centre Website. He is a contributing author for previous Continuing Legal Education courses, “Affidavit Secrets” and “Civil Law for Criminal Lawyers,” and authored a paper on document disclosure in litigation for the 2022 Annual Personal Injury Conference. He has also assisted with publications for the People’s Law School in Vancouver. He volunteers as a supervising lawyer for the UBC Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and is a law student mentor through the Canadian Bar Association’s mentorship program. David has significant experience and interest in legal research and is a member of the CBA’s legal research subsection.
David’s article “Crime on the International Space Station: the Canadian Legal Perspective” was published in Astrosociological Insights, Newsletter of the Astrosociology Research Institute, Vol. 6, Issue 1.
Outside of work, David is a semi-professional musician playing the guitar and bass.

David was co-counsel in a successful breach of contract trial involving a resort property in British Columbia, obtaining damages assessed at $5.6M.
- Rhodes v. All Pro Building Maintenance Ltd., 2012 BCSC 270
David was successful in having numerous portions of a plaintiff’s claims struck for being unnecessary, frivolous, and an abuse of process.
- Bagri v. Bagri, 2015 BCSC 2132
David was successful in an application to remove a case from the fast-track process in BC Supreme Court.
- Xu (Re), 2019 CanLII 131132
David was co-counsel in a tribunal hearing with the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia which successfully established numerous allegations of professional misconduct by a dentist.
